Tess panics
Go backward a step
As their eyes met, Tess felt a jolt of surprise and alarm. She hadn't expected Decker's stare to be so intense, so possessive. For a moment, she just stood there, frozen in her tracks, as the weight of his glare bore down on her. But it was too much for her, and suddenly she was overcome with a sense of panic. Her mind racing, her heart pounding in her chest, Tess turned on her heel and took off in a sprint, dashing back still on her, boring into her skin like hot coals, but she didn't dare look back. Her legs pumped furiously as she ran, her breath coming in short gasps, until finally she emerged onto a side street and could lose herself in the anonymity of the crowd. There, she stopped to catch her breath, her hands shaking with adrenaline as she tried to calm down. What had just happened? Why had Decker reacted so strongly? And why did she feel like she was running from something far more sinister than just a pair of possessive eyes?
My goodness, Tess thought. Maybe I am overreacting?
But I will skip coffee for now.
The end
maybe a future book will have more for her
