Tess switches to dating apps
Go backward a step
Tess trudged her way upstairs and sat at her desk.
And yet, despite the intrigue and excitement of being a big city pushlishing editor, Tess couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Maybe it was the fact that she had been so focused on solving mysteries that she hadn't even thought about her own love life.
As she glanced around the office and her workaday coworkers, Tess felt a pang of disappointment. She had been so drawn to the rude man's brooding looks and confident demeanor, but now she wasn't so sure. Maybe he was just another guy in a long line of guys who seemed perfect for her on paper but turned out to be disappointments in real life.
Tess sighed inwardly. Why did it have to be like this? Why couldn't she find someone to fall for without all the drama and intrigue that came with it? Yet she knew she loved a good brooder.
As she pondered this, Tess's phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out to see a notification from a dating app. Ah, perfect timing.
Tess smiled wryly as she opened the app and began swiping through profiles. Who knew? Maybe she could find someone who didn't come with all the baggage that seemed to accompany the men who worked in this company.
She started to browse through profiles, chuckling at some of the ridiculous bios and photos. There was one guy who claimed to be a "professional snail trainer" (apparently he just had a weird hobby?). Another guy who said he was a "free spirit" but also listed a number of very specific interests in his bio.
Tess laughed out loud as she scrolled through these profiles. This was way more fun than trying to solve a murder mystery!
As she continued to browse, Tess started to feel a sense of excitement and possibility. Maybe this dating app thing wasn't so bad after all. Maybe it could even lead her to someone who didn't come with all the drama and intrigue that seemed to follow her and her friends in the Mystery Machine.
Tess's thumbs began to fly across the screen as she started to swipe through profiles, searching for someone who seemed like a good match. Who knew? Maybe this would be the start of something amazing...
Tess had heard that the CEO of Twitter met his wife on Tinder. She knew that was not true, but in a way, it made eerying seem possible.
