Go backward a step

Tess's gaze lingered on the snow globe, her mind still reeling from the gentle kiss Decker had just given her. But as she looked closer at the miniature scene inside, her expression changed to one of curiosity. What was this? A tiny miniature substation, complete with miniature power lines and a small transformer? Tess's brow furrowed as she studied it more closely. It looked almost...familiar. Suddenly, memories came flooding back. She had seen something like this before, in an old photograph. Her grandfather used to tell her stories about his time working on the power grid, and Tess remembered him showing her a small model of a substation he had built as a child. But why was it inside a snow globe? And why did it look so out of place among the glittering snowflakes? Tess turned the globe over in her hand, studying it from every angle. She could see no other details, just the miniature substation and the surrounding landscape. But she knew that something about this scene was significant. And then, it hit her. The phrase "good luck charm" made sense now. Her grandfather had always told her that a good engineer never lost his way, even in unfamiliar territory. And the tiny substation inside the snow globe seemed to be...guiding her towards something. Tess's mind was racing with questions and theories, but she knew one thing for sure: she needed to ask Decker about this miniature substation. What did it mean? Why had he given it to her? She looked up at Decker, who was watching her with a knowing smile on his face. "What does this mean?" Tess asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Decker's smile faltered for a moment, and then he leaned in close. "I'll tell you everything," he whispered back, his breath tickling her ear.
